Our Story

From Caleb

Zack with Sadie and coffee
Waking up to these two is a blessing. No one I’d rather share my morning coffee with than my handsome man and our Velcro puppy.
Zack and Caleb at Magic Kingdom
After nine months of long distance, Zack coming to visit for Christmas was the best gift. Somewhere on that trip I knew we were building a life together.
Sadie on the Fire Island ferry
Sadie made her Fire Island debut and stole every heart on the ferry. She loved the attention, but the waves were a hard no.
What’s a small routine you’ve built that you’d never want to give up?

For Christmas 2024 I bought Zack his dream espresso machine, with the agreement that I buy the expensive machine and he makes the coffee. When he travels, he leaves little containers of pre prepped espresso and syrup with instructions so I can still finish my iced coffee without touching his prized Breville.

What do you think the other person does better than anyone else?

I’ve never seen anyone get so excited over a spreadsheet, itinerary, or planning of any kind. Before I met Zack I thought I was a great planner, but after a while I raised my white flag and let him take the lead, and I’m not complaining!

What do you hope never changes about your relationship?

When we are together, we get to act like two goofy middle schoolers in love. I never want to lose our sense of humor and the laughter we share.

From Zack

Brooklyn Museum date
An early date to see the Thierry Mugler exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum that quietly became the moment our relationship shifted for me.
Fire Island beach selfie
My first Fire Island day, perfect weather, dolphins, Rocket Fuels, and dancing at Cherry’s until the last ferry back. It felt like summer distilled.
Caleb and Sadie on the couch
An everyday snapshot of Caleb and Sadie on the couch. This is what home looks like.
What’s something simple you love doing together?

We bought a projector for the bedroom so we could do cozy nights in, and somehow it became a House Hunters shrine. Chinese food in bed, the gay episodes, and us yelling about needing outdoor space for emus or converting old churches into a home, it’s the best weekend reset ever.

What do you think makes your relationship work?

As Paula Abdul’s “Opposites Attract” says, opposites attract. If I’m the golden retriever, Caleb’s the black cat, and we’re always finding ways to balance each other.

What are you most excited about in the life you’re building together?

We have a clear vision for the life we want, starting with our DINKWAD era. I’m excited to travel more now, and someday raise kids in a house full of love, laughter, and probably a second dog once they’re a little older.
